A fun and informative multi media exploration that takes you behind the scenes of one of the most beloved movie musicals ever made - 'Singin' in the Rain". This in-depth program explores how the film came together, from its unlikely beginnings to its brilliant choreography and unforgettable performances.
It all started with MGM producer Arthur Freed, who asked writers Betty Comden and Adolph Green to build a screenplay around songs he had co-written decades earlier. They created a witty look at Hollywood’s chaotic transition from silent films to “talkies” in the late 1920s.
Fresh from filming An American in Paris, Gene Kelly agreed to star in and co-direct the film. Alongside Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor, he brought extraordinary energy and talent to the screen. From O’Connor’s gravity-defying “Make ’Em Laugh” to Kelly’s iconic dance in the rain, discover the stories behind the moments that continue to delight audiences.
Charles Troy is a graphic designer and former theatre lyricist who has developed more than 60 multimedia presentations on musical theatre subjects. Nearly half of these presentations tell the stories behind many of the great musicals of the twentieth century, in seamless visual programs with his own original graphics, and a scripted narrative that weave the events into cohesive, dramatic tales. charlestroy.com
